Media Projects

Here There Be Movies!

The media portion of my portfolio is dedicated to the multimedia projects I have created over the past several years. These video projects were captured on mini DV tape and edited in Final Cut Pro. In addition to editing the visual elements, in many cases I also massaged the sound to remove instrumental errors. My main goal in producing all of these projects was to create a series of mementos that all of the hard-working musicians featured here could be proud of.

Several of these projects are also housed on the Alma College New Media server, and many have appeared on various promotional DVDs which are in circulation across the nation.

Americana: The Music of Aaron Copland

This is the twelve-minute halftime show of the Alma College Kiltie Marching Band that I edited together in order to complete an independent study in the Fall of 2004. This is by far the largest project that I have undertaken to date, and though it is a first attempt at using a very complicated application, I feel that it is a proud accomplishment. If nothing else, Americana has truly ignited in me a passion for video editing.

Hoe-Down by Aaron Copland

This is an excerpt of Copland's Hoe-Down as performed by the Alma College Kiltie Marching Band during their 2004 indoor show. I edited it for use on the promotional DVD which I showed at the 2005 and 2006 MSBOA conferences in Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Festival of Carols 2004

Here are excerpts from our annual choral Christmas concert. I also edited these for use on the promotional DVD we took to the MSBOA conferences in Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids.

Jive at Five

Early in the Fall of 2005, I was approached by Mr. David Zerbe and asked to film and edit down a performance given by his jazz and swing group, Jive at Five. I jumped at the chance to work with such talented people, and this is the montage of excerpts that resulted from the effort. About ten minutes in length, this project was designed to give the viewer a brief glimpse into the versatility and tremendous musical prowess of Jive at Five.
